Hello and a Very Happy New Year to you all.
Many thanks again for another successful weekend rehearsal in December.
There have been some very positive comments from tutors and parents and
I too feel that we are moving in the right direction. I hope you have
enjoyed the variety of repertoire being rehearsed to date.
The first music camp is nearly upon us and soon you will be inundated
with a variety of information. Remember to keep it safe, file and print….
And don’t forget to read it! We will need to know, among other things:
Whether you travel direct to Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Tronoh (
Perak ) or whether you wish to travel by coach from KLCC; with whom you
would like to share a room; dietary requirements and any medical status.
We will also be assigning chamber repertoire and conducting classes and
if you have any ensemble repertoire at home you would like your section
to play, then please do inform MPYO in advance.
We will be rehearsing Rimsky Korsakov’s ‘Scheherazade’
together with a variety of previously rehearsed repertoire. The music
will be sent out to you in due course. It would help enormously if you
can get hold of a recording of the work, as it is a 42-minute concerto
for orchestra with plenty to do for all!
The week will be fairly intensive but with an informal presentation of
music on the final evening. I hope that same day will also see a performance
of chamber and ensemble music.
If you have any questions, you know where and whom to call. In the meantime,
I look forward to seeing you in March; bring a tennis racquet!
Thanks

Kevin Field
